The Materials Used in Flat Pack Containers

Prefabex flat pack containers are designed and manufactured in our factory in Turkey. They are then shipped and delivered to your location in easy-to-assemble, flat-pack form. Our products are built to last, as they may need to be transported, assembled, dismantled, and relocated several times during their lifespan.

What Materials Are Used in Flat Pack Containers?

Flat pack containers are designed with efficiency, durability, and mobility in mind. To meet these needs, manufacturers use a combination of lightweight yet strong materials that allow the units to be easily transported, quickly assembled, and structurally sound once in place. Here are the most important materials commonly used:

  1. Galvanized Steel Frame

The structural skeleton of most flat pack containers is made from galvanized steel. This steel is coated with zinc to resist rust and corrosion, making it suitable for outdoor use in varying climtes. It provides the strength needed to withstand wind, rain, and handling during transport.

  1. Insulated Sandwich Panels

For the walls, ceiling, and sometimes the floor, sandwich panels are used. These typically consist of an insulating foam core—such as polyurethane (PU) or expanded polystyrene (EPS)—sandwiched between two steel sheets. These panels provide thermal insulation, structural stability, and a finished look, all in one.

  1. Flooring Materials

The floors are usually constructed from cement fiber boards, plywood, or marine-grade composite panels mounted over steel cross members. These materials are chosen for durability, water resistance, and ease of cleaning, especially in rugged work environments.

  1. PVC or Aluminum Windows and Doors

Doors and windows in flat pack containers are often made from PVC or powder-coated aluminum, offering a good balance of weather resistance, lightweight construction, and thermal efficiency. Security features like reinforced frames or lockboxes can also be added depending on use case.

Materials Used by Prefabex in manufacture Flat Pack Containers

At Prefabex, we use only high-quality, durable materials to ensure our flat pack containers meet the demands of both industrial and commercial use. Every component is carefully selected to deliver strength, weather resistance, and long-term performance in any environment.

Key Materials Include:

  • Galvanized Steel Panels: Corrosion-resistant and structurally strong, used for walls, roof, and base frame. These panels ensure protection from weather and wear.
  • Powder-Coated Finishes: Applied to steel surfaces for additional resistance against rust, UV rays, and abrasion.
  • Steel Corner Posts & Reinforced Frame: Engineered to withstand stacking and loading, providing structural integrity.
  • Waterproof Seals & Gaskets: Installed at connection points to prevent leaks and moisture entry.
  • High-Quality Fasteners & Bolts: Used for easy on-site assembly and disassembly, allowing the unit to be relocated or stored flat.

Prefabex’s materials are ISO-compliant and tested for wind, load, and environmental exposure, making our flat pack containers ideal for secure, portable storage across industries.
